Wnplay the undeniable connection between them his relentless pursuit of her heart puts her commitment to stay unattached to the test and causes her once firm conviction to waverWith an impossible decision looming Lauren might very well find herself choosing between the two deepest desires of her heart even if saying yes to one means letting go of the oth. Such a heartwarming novelSingle and in her thirties Lauren has one goal and that is international adoptionEnter life curve Joshua Phenomenal main male characterThis was an emotional novel It brought me many smiles but also made my heart ache at times I adore a dash of comedy in novels and Before I Called You Mine delivers spectacularly on that front There are so many wonderful one liners that had me laughing The opening of the chapter one uickly brought a smile to my face and it remained there for many pages Depth is also a large part of this novel and I love the author's note at the end that explains while this novel is about Lauren's difficult choices the wisdom in the pages could apply to any of life's troubles Community is another theme and it was delightful to read about the unofficial support group Lauren had on her sideBeautiful novel My gratitude to publisher Bethany House for a complimentary copy of the novel I was not reuired to post a review and the opinions expressed are my own

CHARACTERS Before I Called You Mine

Before I Called You MineLauren Bailey may be a romantic at heart but after a decade of matchmaking schemes gone wrong there's only one match she's committed to now the one that will make her a mother Lauren is a dedicated first grade teacher in Idaho and her love for children has led her to the path of international adoption To satisfy her adoption agency's reuirements she glad. With a to die for hero a winsome heroine and a deep look at the dreams we foster large and small Before I Called You Mine is a treatise on hope I loved how Deese pours her soul into a message close to her own heart The ache of loss and uncertainty of waiting and moments of despair are ones so universal the reader can transpose any similar moment in their own life experience onto Lauren's journey This is very much overt Christian fiction and will resonate most deeply with readers for whom this is their core belief Yet it is never preachy; rather it meets at the intersection of faith and doubt where the loudest voice is not what seems to be constantly sought yet the small still voice in the intervals between Lauren's path will be familiar to so many while her struggles and human moments allow you to recall similar trajectories in your own lives be they spiritually charged or notI loved the constant sense of humour even in the moments of pressure and despair Andbecause this bears repeating I love love loved the hero What a gent he is A modern knight who is at once confident and meek patient and persistent Deese crafts a brilliant balance and weaves a love story out of friendship a family out of sadness I encourage readers to take their time with this book for though it is a lovely romantic comedy with some absolutely wonderfully whimsical moments dinosaurs it is also a deep dive into the expectations we put on faith and prayer and the posits we make for the world to align with our timing It ensures that we recognize that often the beauty in our best laid schedules happens in the in betweens The hurdles The slivers of love that peek in the cracks and flourish fully when we surrender our own resolves Fantastic book

READ é Before I Called You Mine ê Lauren Bailey may be a romantic at heart but after a decade of matchmaking schemes gone wrong there's only one match she's committed to now the one that will make her a mother Lauren is a dedicated first grade teacher in Idaho and her love for children has led her to the path of international adoption To satisfy herLy agreed to remain single for the foreseeable future; however just as her long wait comes to an end Lauren is blindsided by a complication she never saw coming Joshua AveryJoshua may be a substitute teacher by day but Lauren finds his passion for creating educational technology as fascinating as his antics in the classroom Though she does her best to do. Before I Called You Mine is a poignant heart warming story Lauren is a likeable lead one easy to empathize with even when you may not agree with everything she’s doing Truly she is a breath of fresh air with Deese’s first person narration bringing to life an altogether realistic main character She is deep into her goal of international adoption but a possible kink comes up in her plan when she meets the man of her dreams Josh is a huge highlight of this story I’m not sure how Deese manages to strike the perfect balance in a male lead but Josh is it Confident and persistent yet not pushy he is the epitome of the trend I’m loving right now which is that of a uiet strength – a true gentleman However choosing him means losing the opportunity to adopt something that she feels deeply called to do Speaking of balance this novel strikes the right notes between heartache and hope It feels entirely plausible and real yet also like an impossibly hard situation The story is bittersweet at times highlighting how sometimes our dreams may conflict with each other and how those conflicts can be reconciled – if they can be reconciled at all It’s also about finding peace regardless of the circumstance and that is always a welcome reminder for me This is very much a faith filled novel but I never feel like anything is preachy; it suits the circumstances that Lauren finds herself in very well It’s not without its moments of levity I often had a big smile on my face while reading this storyThe elementary school setting feels very realistic however as a school librarian myself I found the image she portrayed of the librarian to be dated School libraries are rarely just a story time any; we are expected to do lessons and activities with students even though I do try to read a lot of stories It’s a very busy demanding job and I just wanted to make note of that as it’s something that I have a personal connection I kind of stalled out a bit with that part but once I got past it I was enthralled by the story and hardly put it downThis story does have a happy ending but it is hard won indeed That makes it that much sweeter in this reader’s opinion This is not the typical romantic contemporary but transcends a simple romance becoming a uniue story of perceived missed opportunities and the joys that they can bring at the journey’s endI received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher; I was not reuired to post a positive review and the opinions expressed here are my own
